AFTERWORD

The Quality of Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) is a topic of interest and concern in today's society. Whether in the development of software for information management systems, communications or automation and control systems, or in the provision and servicing of products, in consultancy services and other fields, the (lack of) Quality in ICT, affects us at all times, both as producers and consumers!

Discussing the various aspects of quality in ICT was precisely the motto of "QUATIC'95 - 2nd Meeting on the Quality of Information and Communication Technologies", held in Lisbon from 4-6 December 1995, at LNEC premises. The minutes of this edition testifies a rich program with formal and informal presentations, scientific and pragmatic, training and informative, panels and demonstrations, in addition to the participation of renowned guest speakers. Overall, we had 5 guest speakers, 6 lectures, 14 communications, 6 demos and 6 panels.


In a pleasant environment, with participants from diverse areas of business, with varying degrees of responsibility, QUATIC became the quintessential forum for sharing and growing interest in Quality in ICTs in Portugal. In this edition, close to 200 professionals broadened their horizons in this area, heard new opinions, found clues and motivations to launch or substantiate various facets of their business. The event was sponsored by Edinfor, ICP, Instituto de Informática (Ministry of Finance), JNICT, LNEC, Microsoft and Portugal Telecom.
